September News

The first month of school is now gone by and the class has a good understanding of what it feels like to be a fifth grader. We have reviewed the things we should have learned in 4th grade in Math and Language Arts and have started learning about the United States. This month we move to multiplication and division in math, understanding the conventions of writing, and about the early native americans in the US.
It is important for parents to be checking and signing the Character Always sheets each Thursday. This lets you keep up on how your child is using their character traits in completing assignments and behaving during the day. At the end of each Quarter the school has a Character Always event for the students who have met the requirements, this time it is getting their character card signed weekly and no having any office referrals. Many in the class are doing great in this.
Our student teacher, Ms. Smith, will be finishing up her time with us at the end of the month. The students and I would like to present her with a gift card to a teaching store, so if you would like to help out with a dollar or so, we would appreciate it. Some students have already been bring in some change or a dollar. Amything will be useful.
